Raw Chocolate Chia Chips

These chocolate chia chips are packed full of antioxidants and the necessary ratio of essential fatty acids! They are also a great source of fiber and magnesium as well as a mood booster (hoc plate has been shown to improve depression as well as general feelings of wellness). And… This recipe is so easy to make you don’t even need a blender! 🙂 Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 cup chia
2/3 cup cacao powder
1/2 cup coconut sugar
Pinch Himalayan sea salt
1/8 teaspoon ground vanilla (optional)

Step 1: Add water (2 cups) to the chia and let it sit until it becomes gelatinous.

Step 2: Add the chocolate powder to the mixture and stir carefully to make sure the powder is blended in.

I used a whisk (twirl whisk) to get this texture because it won’t change the integrity of any of the ingredients but it will break up any clumps of powder.

Step 3: Sift in the coconut sugar to make sure no clumps are mixed in and it becomes easier to mix. 🙂

A pretty mixture free of clumps and pockets of ingredients that didn’t get properly assimilated- let’s just say it’s not fun to get a salty bite when something is supposed to be sweet. 🙂

Step 4: Mix in any additional ingredients and when your mixture is nice and well blended together, spread it on to a dehydrator Teflex sheet or parchment paper.

Step 5: dehydrate until pliable (about 1 day) then remove from the teflex sheet and dehydrate until dry.

Step 6: Enjoy that business!
